Silver Garden Jewelry is the retail arm of North America’s largest and oldest importer of jewelry from the Himalayas Working in partnership since 1983, with a select group of master silversmiths, our goal has been to create sterling silver jewelry that will stand the test of time, creating heirloom pieces to be passed from generation to generation.  

It was back in the 1970’s when we were first attracted to the incredible beauty of the fabled Kathmandu Valley of Nepal.  As we discovered more about this magical land it became apparent that one of the world’s great concentrations of traditional silversmiths had worked there since antiquity.   Silver Garden Jewelry contracts only with small family owned workshops to produce our designs; each family is highly skilled with generations of sometimes secret techniques that they can call on, and certain designs can only be produced by these families.

There is no better life they could have and as the years have gone by they have built new homes, educated their children and achieved a standard of living only dreamed about by most of their fellow citizens.   As the years have passed, with their cycles of weddings, births and festivals, strong and enduring relationships have been formed.

The mutual trust that can only be fostered with time has led us into a very special type of bond, that in typical Nepali fashion would best be described as that of an extended family.   We feel honoured to have been accepted as brothers and sisters by these people and to have become part of this unique community.
